Trabekulaarisuus refers to the presence of trabeculae, which are small beams or bars of tissue. This term is most commonly used in biology and medicine, particularly in reference to bone and the eye. In bone tissue, trabeculae form a spongy, lattice-like structure called trabecular bone, also known as cancellous bone. This arrangement provides strength while reducing overall weight. Trabecular bone is found at the ends of long bones and within vertebrae and pelvis. Its structure is dynamic and can remodel in response to mechanical stress.

In the context of the eye, the trabecular meshwork is a crucial anatomical structure located at the angle where the iris and cornea meet. It is a complex network of connective tissue that drains aqueous humor from the anterior chamber of the eye into Schlemm's canal. This drainage system is vital for maintaining intraocular pressure. Dysfunction or blockage of the trabecular meshwork can lead to elevated intraocular pressure, a primary risk factor for glaucoma. The degree of trabecularity can vary depending on the specific tissue or organ.
