Tovuti, also known as the World Wide Web or simply the Web, is an information system where documents and other web resources are identified by Uniform Resource Locators (URLs, such as https://www.example.com/) and interlinked by hypertext. The Web is accessed through the Internet and enables the sharing, presentation, and dissemination of information in various forms. Web pages are the building blocks of the Web. These pages can contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia content, and are connected to each other through hyperlinks.

The Web was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 while working at CERN. The first Web browser, called WorldWideWeb, was also developed by Berners-Lee. The Web has since grown exponentially, becoming a fundamental part of modern communication and information exchange. It is used for a wide range of purposes, including education, commerce, social networking, and entertainment.

The Web operates on a client-server model. Users, or clients, access Web pages through Web browsers, which send requests to Web servers. The servers then send back the requested Web pages, which are displayed in the user's browser. The Web is based on standard protocols, including Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), which ensure compatibility and interoperability between different systems and devices.

The Web has evolved significantly over the years, with the introduction of new technologies such as Web 2.0, which emphasized user-generated content and social networking, and the Semantic Web, which aims to make Web content more understandable to machines. Despite these advancements, the basic principles of the Web remain the same: it is a decentralized system of interlinked documents and resources.
