Touchproof

Touchproof refers to a characteristic of a device or system that prevents accidental activation or operation when touched. This is often implemented in electronic devices to avoid unintended actions such as making a call, changing a setting, or initiating a purchase. Touchproof mechanisms can take various forms, including requiring a specific gesture, a prolonged press, a two-finger interaction, or a physical confirmation like a button. The goal is to differentiate between intentional user input and casual contact.

Many modern smartphones and tablets incorporate touchproof features, particularly in their screens and key areas. For example, a screen may remain unresponsive to a single light touch, requiring a deliberate press or swipe. Some devices also offer a "lock screen" mode which is inherently touchproof until a specific unlock sequence is performed. This prevents accidental screen touches while the device is in a pocket or bag.
