Totonikapán
Totonikapán is a municipality located in the western highlands of Guatemala, within the department of Totonicapán. It is the administrative center of the department and one of its largest urban settlements. The region is primarily inhabited by indigenous Maya peoples, with the K'iche' (Quiché) being the predominant ethnic group.
The economy of Totonikapán is largely based on agriculture, with corn, beans, and potatoes being staple crops.
Historically, Totonikapán has been a center of indigenous resistance and cultural preservation. The town played a
