Torakusu
Torakusu Yamaha was a Japanese inventor and entrepreneur who founded Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd., the company that would become Yamaha Corporation. He established a workshop in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, after repairing a damaged Western organ and recognizing a demand for high-quality musical instruments. In 1887, he founded Nippon Gakki, which began by manufacturing reed organs and gradually expanded to pianos and other Western-style instruments. The company earned a reputation for precision and reliability, contributing to the modernization of musical instrument production in Japan.
