Toiduvõrgud
Toiduvõrgud, or food webs, are complex networks of interconnected food chains that illustrate the feeding relationships within an ecosystem. They provide a more comprehensive representation of energy flow and nutrient cycling compared to simple food chains. In a food web, each species occupies a specific trophic level, which is determined by its position in the food chain. Primary producers, such as plants and algae, form the base of the food web, converting sunlight into energy through photosynthesis. Herbivores, which consume these primary producers, occupy the next trophic level. Carnivores, which feed on herbivores, occupy higher trophic levels, and so on. Decomposers, such as bacteria and fungi, play a crucial role in breaking down dead organic matter and recycling nutrients back into the ecosystem.
Food webs are dynamic and can change over time due to various factors, including environmental changes, predation,
