Titrausliuosta

Titrausliuosta, often referred to as a titrant, is a solution of precisely known concentration used in titration. Titration is a common laboratory method for determining the concentration of an unknown solution, known as the analyte, by reacting it with a solution of known concentration, the titrant. The titrant is typically added to the analyte from a burette, a graduated glass tube with a stopcock, allowing for controlled dispensing.

The key characteristic of a titrausliuosta is its accurately determined concentration. This concentration is established through a process called standardization, where the titrant is reacted with a primary standard – a highly pure substance of known composition and stability – or a secondary standard that has been previously standardized against a primary standard. The volume of titrausliuosta required to completely react with a known volume of analyte is then measured.

The reaction between the titrant and analyte must be rapid, complete, and have a clearly definable endpoint.
