Titkosításban refers to the Hungarian term for "in encryption." Encryption is the process of encoding information in such a way that only authorized parties can access it. This is typically achieved using an algorithm, known as a cipher, that converts readable data, called plaintext, into an unreadable format called ciphertext. A key is then used to decrypt the ciphertext back into plaintext.

There are two main types of encryption: symmetric and asymmetric. Symmetric encryption uses the same key for both encryption and decryption. This method is generally faster but requires a secure way to exchange the key between parties. Asymmetric encryption, also known as public-key cryptography, uses a pair of keys: a public key for encryption and a private key for decryption. The public key can be shared freely, while the private key must be kept secret. This approach is slower but eliminates the need for secure key exchange.

Encryption is fundamental to modern digital security, protecting sensitive information such as financial transactions, personal communications, and confidential data. It is employed across various applications, including secure websites (HTTPS), virtual private networks (VPNs), and secure messaging apps. The strength of encryption depends on the algorithm used and the length of the key. Strong encryption makes it computationally infeasible for unauthorized individuals to decipher the protected data, even if they intercept it.
