Tiolit

Tiolit is a term that appears in speculative geology and science-fiction writings to denote a hypothetical titanium-rich mineral or material. It is not an officially recognized mineral in major mineralogical databases or governing bodies.

In the various depictions, Tiolit is described as a dense, hard substance with a metallic to resinous luster. Proposed compositions range from titanium oxides to titanium silicates, but there is no consensus, and the name is used flexibly depending on the narrative or model.

To date, there are no verified natural occurrences of Tiolit in real-world geology. In fictional settings, Tiolit is sometimes said to form under extreme high-temperature or high-pressure conditions, such as deep magmatic pockets or asteroid processing, or as a processed alloy rather than a pure mineral.

Etymology and naming: the name Tiolit derives from the chemical symbol for titanium, Ti, combined with the common mineral suffix -lite, and is used for its evocative, technogeological sound.
