Timahoe

Timahoe is a village located in County Laois, Ireland. It lies in the eastern part of the county, historically situated within the barony of Slievemargy. The name Timahoe is derived from the Irish "Tigh Mochua," meaning "the house of Mochua." This refers to Saint Mochua, who founded a monastery in the area in the 7th century.

The most prominent historical feature of Timahoe is its well-preserved round tower, a common architectural element of early Christian monastic sites in Ireland. The tower stands at approximately 30 meters tall and is a significant landmark.
