Tilavuudenmuutos

Tilavuudenmuutos refers to the change in volume of a substance due to variations in temperature, pressure, or other physical conditions. This phenomenon is a fundamental concept in thermodynamics and materials science.

When a substance is heated, its constituent particles gain kinetic energy and move more vigorously. This increased motion causes them to spread further apart, resulting in an expansion of volume. This is known as thermal expansion. Conversely, cooling a substance reduces particle motion, leading to a contraction in volume. The coefficient of thermal expansion quantifies how much a substance's volume changes per degree Celsius (or Kelvin) change in temperature.
