Tiesto

Tiësto, born Tijs Michiel Verwest on January 17, 1969, in Breda, Netherlands, is a Dutch DJ and record producer widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in electronic dance music. He helped popularize trance in the late 1990s and later became a leading force in mainstream EDM through high-profile performances, large-scale festival appearances, and commercially successful releases.

Tiësto began DJing in local Dutch clubs in the late 1980s and rose to international prominence in the 2000s. His debut studio album In My Memory (2001) established his trance-oriented sound, followed by Just Be (2004), which included popular tracks such as Lethal Industry and Traffic. Elements of Life (2007) fused orchestral textures with dance music, and Kaleidoscope (2009) explored more expansive, vocal-driven productions. A Town Called Paradise (2014) signaled a shift toward a broader, club-oriented sound that appealed to a wider audience.

In addition to recording, Tiësto has contributed to the industry through media and labels. He has hosted the Clublife radio show and launched the Musical Freedom label in 2009 to promote other artists and new electronic music. He has performed at major festivals worldwide and has held notable residencies in Ibiza and Las Vegas, headlining events at Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, and EDC Las Vegas. His work is characterized by a willingness to blend trance origins with house and progressive styles, contributing to the evolution of modern EDM.
