Tiefendüngung

Tiefendüngung, also known as deep fertilization, is an agricultural technique where fertilizers are applied to the deep layers of soil, typically beyond the primary root zone of crops. This method aims to stimulate root growth downward, enhance crop resilience to stressors like drought or pests, and improve nutrient utilization efficiency.

Commonly executed via specialized machinery or manual injection, deep fertilization can involve injecting fertilizers into soil at depths of 30–60 centimeters or integrating fertilization with drip irrigation systems. It is widely used for crops such as corn, wheat, and vegetables, especially in scenarios where surface soil fertility is insufficient or deep-rooted plants are cultivated. By delivering nutrients to deeper soil layers, this practice reduces nutrient leaching, supports long-term soil structure improvement, and ultimately contributes to sustainable soil fertility management.
