Thuvia

Thuvia is a fictional character in Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom series of novels, first appearing in "The Gods of Mars." She is the daughter of the Jeddak of the Toonolian Marshes and later becomes the queen of the city of Thark. Thuvia is depicted as a strong and independent Martian woman, known for her beauty, intelligence, and martial prowess. She plays a significant role in the early part of the series, particularly in her interactions with John Carter and his companions.

Thuvia is a skilled warrior and a skilled diplomat. She is also deeply loyal to her people and is willing to make great sacrifices for them. In "The Gods of Mars," she is captured by the Holy Therns and is instrumental in the eventual downfall of their oppressive regime. Later, in "Thuvia, Maid of Mars," she becomes the central protagonist. This novel details her quest to save her people from a plague and her developing romantic relationship with Carthoris, the son of John Carter. Her character is a representation of the noble and resilient nature of the Martian people as portrayed by Burroughs.
