Thietmar
Thietmar, also known as Dietmar or Thiemar, was a medieval cleric and chronicler. He is primarily known for his Chronicon Thietmari, a significant historical source for the Ottonian and early Salian periods of the Holy Roman Empire. Born around 975 CE, Thietmar entered the Benedictine monastery of St. Michael at Lüneburg and later moved to the monastery of St. Maurice at Magdeburg. He eventually became Bishop of Merseburg in 1009.
His Chronicon is a Latin-language work that covers the period from 919 to 1018, detailing the reigns
