Textúraelemzések, often translated as texture analysis, refers to the quantitative description of the spatial arrangement of variations in image intensity. It is a fundamental technique in image processing and computer vision used to characterize the surface properties of objects or regions within an image. Unlike methods that focus on individual pixels or global image properties, texture analysis examines the local patterns and their relationships.

The primary goal of texture analysis is to quantify the perceived visual texture. This can involve identifying and classifying different types of surfaces, such as smooth, rough, granular, or patterned. Various mathematical approaches are employed, broadly categorized into statistical, structural, and transform-based methods. Statistical methods, like gray-level co-occurrence matrices (GLCM), calculate features based on the distribution of pixel intensity values and their spatial relationships. Structural methods aim to describe texture as a collection of repeating primitives arranged according to specific rules.
