Terrue

Terrue is a commune in the Dordogne department in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, southwestern France. It falls within the arrondissement of Périgueux and the canton of Haut-Périgord Noir. The commune covers an area of 7.39 square kilometres and has an elevation ranging from 150 to 293 metres above sea level, with an average elevation of 220 metres.

The population of Terrue has fluctuated modestly over the past decades. According to the most recent census, approximately 200 residents live in the commune, representing a slight decline compared with earlier periods. The inhabitants are known as Terruants for men and Terruantines for women.

Terrue lies near several historical sites and is accessible via departmental roads. Its economy is traditionally based on agriculture, with a focus on livestock and crop cultivation, particularly cereals and vineyards. The commune is not far from the larger town of Périgueux, which provides additional services and employment opportunities for residents.

Historically, the settlement dates back to at least the medieval period, with records indicating early agricultural activity in the area.
