Termostaadisüsteem refers to a control system designed to maintain a desired temperature within a specific environment. The core component of a termostaadisüsteem is the thermostat, a device that senses the ambient temperature and compares it to a set point. When the sensed temperature deviates from the set point, the thermostat activates or deactivates a heating or cooling system to bring the temperature back into the desired range.

Thermostats can operate on various principles, including bimetallic strips, thermistors, or digital sensors. Bimetallic thermostats use two different metals that expand at different rates with temperature changes, causing the strip to bend and complete or break an electrical circuit. Thermistors are resistors whose resistance changes with temperature, and their signal is processed to control the system. Digital thermostats employ electronic sensors and microprocessors for more precise temperature control and often offer advanced features like programming and remote access.
