Televiisoriekraanil

Televiisoriekraanil, a term originating from Estonian, literally translates to "television screen." It refers to the display surface of a television set, where images and video content are presented to the viewer. Historically, television screens evolved from cathode ray tube (CRT) technology, characterized by their bulky design and curved glass surfaces. These older screens produced images by directing an electron beam onto a phosphorescent coating inside the tube.

With advancements in technology, CRT screens have largely been replaced by flatter and more energy-efficient alternatives. Liquid crystal display (LCD) screens became widespread, utilizing liquid crystals to manipulate light and create images. Further innovations led to the development of light-emitting diode (LED) screens, which are a type of LCD that uses LEDs for backlighting, offering improved contrast and color reproduction. More recently, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology has gained prominence. OLED screens do not require a backlight, as each pixel emits its own light, resulting in superior black levels, infinite contrast ratios, and wider viewing angles.

The size and resolution of television screens have also dramatically increased over time. Screen sizes are typically measured diagonally in inches, ranging from small portable units to large home theater displays. Resolution refers to the number of pixels that make up the image, with higher resolutions like Full HD (1920x1080) and 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) providing sharper and more detailed visuals.
