Teilsätze

Subordinating conjunctions like "weil" (because), "obwohl" (although), "dass" (that), and "wenn" (if/when) signal the beginning of a teilsatz. For example, in the sentence "Ich gehe nach Hause, weil ich müde bin," the clause "weil ich müde bin" is a teilsatz functioning as an adverb, explaining the reason for going home.

Relative pronouns such as "der" (who/which), "die" (who/which), and "das" (who/which) introduce relative clauses, a type of teilsatz that modifies a noun in the main clause. In the sentence "Das Buch, das ich lese, ist spannend," the clause "das ich lese" is a relative clause describing the book.

Teilsätze play a crucial role in adding complexity and detail to sentences. They allow for the expression of cause and effect, condition, concession, and provide descriptive information, enriching the overall meaning and structure of written and spoken language.
