Tehingutüüpide refers to the classification of different types of transactions. In Estonian, "tehingutüüp" literally translates to "transaction type". This concept is fundamental in various fields, including finance, law, accounting, and business.

Broadly, tehingutüüpide can be categorized based on several criteria. One common distinction is between civil law transactions (tsiviilõiguslikud tehingud) and administrative law transactions (haldusõiguslikud tehingud). Civil law transactions typically involve agreements between private individuals or entities, such as sales contracts, rental agreements, or loan agreements. Administrative law transactions, on the other hand, involve an act by a public authority that creates, modifies, or terminates legal rights or obligations, for example, issuing a permit or levying a tax.

Another important classification relates to the nature of the transaction itself. This can include unilateral transactions, where only one party's declaration of intent is sufficient to create legal effects (like making a will), and bilateral or multilateral transactions, which require mutual agreement between two or more parties (like a purchase agreement). Transactions can also be categorized as commutative, where the performances of the parties are considered equivalent, or aleatory, where the performance of one or both parties depends on an uncertain event (like an insurance contract).

Furthermore, tehingutüüpide can be distinguished by their purpose, such as acquisitive transactions (aiming to acquire a right or property) or dispositive transactions (aiming to transfer or extinguish a right or property). In accounting, transaction types are crucial for recording and reporting financial activities, distinguishing between revenue transactions, expense transactions, and investment transactions, among others.
