Technikus

Technikus is a term of Latin origin used to refer to a person skilled in technique or technology. The word is formed from Greek techne "art, craft" and the Latin suffix -icus, and in Latin and Neo-Latin usage it described craftspeople and practitioners of the technical arts. In later European languages, technikus exists as a loanword or cognate meaning "technician" or "technologist," though many languages have their own native terms (for example Dutch technicus). In English, the form technikus is rare and chiefly encountered in historical, scholarly, or Latinized contexts; standard equivalents are technician, technologist, or engineer, depending on exact duties and qualifications.
