Tb131

Tb131 (terbium-131) is the designation for a potential isotope of the element terbium (atomic number 65) with a mass number of 131. It would have 65 protons and 66 neutrons. Terbium has a single naturally occurring stable isotope, Tb-159; therefore Tb-131 is not found in nature and, if it exists, would be radioactive.

As of now, Tb-131 has not been observed in experiments, and there are no published measurements of its properties, such as a half-life or decay scheme. In nuclear data compilations, it is not listed as a confirmed or widely studied isotope. If produced in a laboratory, Tb-131 would be expected to decay via weak interactions, most likely through beta-plus emission or electron capture to a neighboring, lower-Z isotope of gadolinium (Z = 64) with the same mass number.

Possible production routes for such a short-lived, proton-rich isotope would involve high-energy nuclear reactions in accelerators or reactors, such as projectile fragmentation or fusion-evaporation processes followed by rapid separation and detection. Because no practical data exist for Tb-131, there are no known applications in medicine, industry, or research.
