It can also be used in phylogenetic or comparative discussions to indicate preliminary or tentative affinity pending further data.

Because taxonlike denotes resemblance rather than established membership, it should not be taken as evidence that the entity constitutes or belongs to a named taxon. It is typically employed informally in manuscripts, field notes, or data discussions to communicate plausible affinities while acknowledging uncertainty.
