Tarptautins

Tarptautins is not a standard Lithuanian adjective form in ordinary usage. In correct Lithuanian, the word for “international” is tarptautinis in the masculine singular, tarptautinė in the feminine, tarptautiniai in the masculine plural, and so on. The form tarptautins may appear occasionally as a misspelling, a typographical error, or as part of a coined name, but it is not recognized as a standard inflected form in dictionaries.

Etymology and formation notes are commonly tied to the same root as tarptautinis. The term is built from the prefix tarpt- (between/among) and a stem related to tauta or nation, yielding a meaning connected with relations between nations. The standard inflectional paradigm follows Lithuanian adjective patterns, with tarptautinis aligning to gender and number: tarptautinis, tarptautinė, tarptautiniai, tarptautinės, etc. Tarptautins, if encountered, is typically treated as nonstandard and usually not suitable for formal writing.

Usage guidance observations suggest that tarptautins may appear in headlines, creative branding, or as a mistaken form in informal texts. For formal or scholarly Lithuanian, it is advisable to use tarptautinis (masculine), tarptautinė (feminine), or tarptautiniai tarptautinės in standard agreement. In phrases referring to international relations, law, or cooperation, standard forms are expected: tarptautiniai santykiai, tarptautinė teisė, tarptautinis bendradarbiavimas.
