Taree

Taree is a city located in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. It is situated on the banks of the Manning River, approximately 310 kilometres (193 miles) north of Sydney. The city serves as the administrative centre of the City of Greater Taree local government area.

The area was originally inhabited by the Gathang people. European settlement began in the 1830s, with the town officially proclaimed in 1861. Taree's economy has historically been based on agriculture, particularly dairy farming and timber milling. Today, tourism, retail, and services are significant contributors to the local economy.
