Tapuiasaurus

Tapuiasaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous period, known from South America. It is classified within Titanosauria, a diverse clade of long-necked herbivores that were widespread in Gondwana during this time. The genus is represented by a single named species, Tapuiasaurus macedoi, and is known from relatively fragmentary remains that support its placement among titanosaurs.

Fossils attributed to Tapuiasaurus have been found in Brazil, in sedimentary rocks dating to the Early Cretaceous.

In the broader context of dinosaur evolution, Tapuiasaurus contributes to the understanding of titanosaurs’ early diversification
