Takuusopimuksia, known in English as guarantee agreements or surety bonds, are contractual arrangements designed to ensure the fulfillment of an obligation. In these agreements, one party, the guarantor (or surety), promises to step in and fulfill the obligation if the primary party (the obligor) fails to do so. This provides a layer of security for the beneficiary of the obligation.

Takuusopimuksia are common in various contexts, including construction projects, rental agreements, and loan procurements. For example, a contractor might be required to provide a performance bond (a type of takuusopimus) to guarantee the completion of a building project according to the contract.
