Tachikardiák

Tachikardiák refers to a group of heart rhythm disorders characterized by an abnormally fast heart rate. The resting heart rate for adults is typically between 60 and 100 beats per minute. When the heart rate exceeds 100 beats per minute in an adult at rest, it is considered tachycardia. This can occur in either the upper chambers (atria) or the lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart, leading to different types of tachykardias.

Common causes of tachykardia include stress, exercise, fever, dehydration, anemia, and certain medications. More serious underlying conditions such as heart disease, electrolyte imbalances, thyroid problems, or lung disease can also contribute. Symptoms can vary greatly and may include palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, and fainting. In some cases, tachykardia may have no noticeable symptoms.

Diagnosis typically involves an electrocardiogram (ECG) to record the heart's electrical activity. Further testing may be required to determine the specific type and cause. Treatment strategies depend on the type of tachykardia, its severity, and the individual's overall health. Options range from lifestyle modifications and medications to procedures like electrical cardioversion or catheter ablation. Prolonged or untreated tachykardia can potentially lead to more serious health complications, including heart failure or stroke.
