TLSKeys

TLSKeys refers to the cryptographic keys used in the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. TLS is a widely used cryptographic protocol designed to provide communications security over a computer network. It is the successor to the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. The primary purpose of TLS is to ensure that data transmitted between two communicating applications remains private and integral.

There are several types of keys involved in TLS. These include private keys, public keys, and session keys. Private keys are kept secret by the server and are used to prove its identity and to decrypt information sent by the client that was encrypted with the server's public key. Public keys are distributed freely and are used to encrypt data that only the corresponding private key holder can decrypt. Session keys are temporary symmetric keys generated for a specific communication session. These session keys are used for the actual encryption and decryption of data transmitted during that session, offering efficient data transfer. The process of establishing these keys involves a handshake protocol, where the client and server negotiate the cryptographic algorithms and exchange necessary keying material. This secure key exchange is fundamental to the security provided by TLS.
