TCRbased refers to a therapeutic or diagnostic approach that utilizes T-cell receptors (TCRs) or molecules engineered to mimic their function. T-cell receptors are crucial components of the adaptive immune system, responsible for recognizing specific antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules on the surface of other cells. This recognition event is central to initiating an immune response against pathogens or abnormal cells, such as cancer.

Therapeutic strategies leveraging TCRs often involve engineering T-cells to express specific TCRs that target tumor-associated antigens. These engineered T-cells, known as TCR-engineered T-cells (TCR-T cells), are then expanded and reinfused into the patient. The goal is to enhance the patient's immune system's ability to detect and eliminate cancer cells. In diagnostics, TCR-based methods can be used to identify or quantify specific immune responses.
