TAJszám
TAJ-szám, short for Társadalombiztosítási azonosító jel, is a unique identifier used in Hungary’s health and social security system to identify individuals with public health coverage. It is issued to citizens and residents who are covered by the public health insurance and is required when accessing medical services, receiving prescriptions, and submitting health-insurance claims. The TAJ number links a person to their health- and social-security records, including insurance contributions and entitlements such as sickness benefits and pensions. Healthcare providers, pharmacies, and the national health insurance administration use the number to verify coverage and process payments. The TAJ number is a confidential personal data item and should be shared only with authorized health- and social-security institutions.
