Tükörvonalak, often translated as "mirror lines" or "lines of symmetry," are fundamental concepts in geometry and visual arts. In mathematics, a mirror line is a line that divides a shape or figure into two congruent halves, such that if the figure were folded along the line, the two halves would perfectly coincide. This means that every point on one side of the line has a corresponding point on the other side, equidistant from the line and lying on a perpendicular. The line of symmetry is essentially a reflection axis for the shape.

The presence and number of mirror lines can be a defining characteristic of geometric shapes. For example, a square has four mirror lines: two that pass through opposite vertices and two that bisect opposite sides. An equilateral triangle has three mirror lines, each passing through a vertex and the midpoint of the opposite side. Rectangles that are not squares have two mirror lines, while isosceles triangles have one. Circles, on the other hand, possess an infinite number of mirror lines, as any diameter can serve as a line of symmetry.
