Sünbiootiliste
Sünbiootiliste refers to a combination of prebiotics and probiotics. Probiotics are live microorganisms, often bacteria or yeasts, that are beneficial to the host when consumed in adequate amounts. They are commonly found in fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut, and are also available as dietary supplements. These microorganisms are thought to improve gut health by contributing to a balanced gut microbiota. Prebiotics, on the other hand, are non-digestible compounds that selectively stimulate the growth and/or activity of beneficial bacteria already residing in the colon. They act as food for these good bacteria, helping them to thrive. Examples of prebiotics include inulin, fructooligosaccharides (FOS), and galactooligosaccharides (GOS), which are often found in foods like onions, garlic, bananas, and whole grains. A synbiotic formulation thus contains both the beneficial live microorganisms (probiotics) and the specific food components (prebiotics) that support their survival and activity in the digestive tract. The combined action of prebiotics and probiotics in synbiotics is intended to offer synergistic effects, potentially leading to enhanced health benefits compared to consuming either component alone. These benefits are often discussed in the context of digestive health, immune function, and overall well-being.
