Sözlerinden

Sözlerinden is a Turkish word formed through a sequence of suffixes added to the base noun söz (word). The chain goes: söz → sözler (words) with the plural suffix -ler; then + -i to form sözleri (their/his/her words); finally + -den (the ablative suffix) to yield sözlerinden, meaning “from their words” or “from his/her words.” The exact possessor is usually inferred from context, as Turkish suffixes encode both number and person.

In usage, sözlerinden is employed to indicate information, evidence, or inference derived from what someone has said. It often appears in phrases that mean “based on what they said” or “as can be inferred from their words.” Common collocations include sözlerinden hareketle (based on their words) and sözlerinden anlaşıldığına göre (as is understood from their words). The form demonstrates Turkish’s agglutinative morphology, where multiple suffixes attach to a root to express possession, plurality, and case.
