Sætningstræer

Sætningstræer, or sentence trees, are a graphical representation used in linguistics and computational linguistics to illustrate the syntactic structure of a sentence. They are hierarchical diagrams that break down a sentence into its constituent parts, showing how words group together to form phrases and how these phrases combine to form the complete sentence. The root of the tree represents the entire sentence, and branches extend downwards to show successively smaller syntactic units.

The construction of a sætningstræ typically follows a set of grammatical rules, often based on a specific linguistic theory like constituency grammar or dependency grammar. In constituency grammar, the tree shows how phrases (like noun phrases and verb phrases) are nested within each other. Dependency grammar, on the other hand, focuses on the relationships between words, illustrating which words directly modify or depend on others.
