Sähkökatkokytkimet

Sähkökatkokytkimet, also known as automatic transfer switches (ATS) or changeover switches, are essential electrical devices used in power systems to automatically switch between different power sources. Their primary function is to ensure a continuous and reliable supply of electricity to a load, such as a building or critical equipment, when the primary power source fails.

The most common application for sähkökatkokytkimet is in conjunction with a backup generator. When the main utility power is interrupted, the sähkökatkokytkin detects the voltage drop. It then signals the backup generator to start. Once the generator is running and its voltage and frequency are stable, the sähkökatkokytkin disconnects the load from the failed utility source and connects it to the generator. Conversely, when the main utility power is restored and stable, the switch transfers the load back to the utility and signals the generator to shut down.

Sähkökatkokytkimet come in various types, including manual, automatic, and motorized. Automatic types are the most prevalent due to their ability to operate without human intervention. They are crucial for maintaining operations in hospitals, data centers, industrial facilities, and residential settings where even short power outages can have significant consequences. The reliable and swift operation of these switches is paramount for preventing data loss, equipment damage, and ensuring safety.
