Szívmtét

Szívműtét is the Hungarian term for heart surgery. This broad category encompasses a variety of surgical procedures performed on the heart. The most common type is coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), often referred to as bypass surgery. In CABG, a healthy blood vessel from another part of the body is used to create a new pathway for blood to flow around a blocked or narrowed coronary artery.

Another significant procedure is valve repair or replacement. Heart valves ensure blood flows in the correct direction through the heart. If a valve is damaged or diseased, it may need to be repaired surgically or replaced with an artificial or biological valve. Heart transplant surgery is performed for individuals with end-stage heart failure, where a diseased heart is replaced with a healthy heart from a donor.

Other types of heart surgery include procedures to correct congenital heart defects, repair damage from a heart attack, or treat arrhythmias. Many modern heart surgeries are minimally invasive, involving smaller incisions and specialized instruments, which can lead to faster recovery times compared to traditional open-heart surgery. The decision to undergo heart surgery is complex and depends on the specific condition, the patient's overall health, and the potential benefits versus risks.
