Szívbillenty

A szívbillenty, often translated as heart valve, is a crucial component of the heart that ensures blood flows in the correct direction through the four chambers of the heart and into the major arteries. There are four main heart valves in the human heart: the mitral valve, the tricuspid valve, the aortic valve, and the pulmonary valve. These valves are essentially flap-like structures made of thin, flexible tissue.

During the cardiac cycle, the heart valves open and close in a precise sequence. When the heart muscle contracts, valves open to allow blood to be pumped forward. When the heart muscle relaxes, the valves close to prevent blood from flowing backward into the chamber it just left. This unidirectional flow is essential for efficient circulation of oxygenated blood to the body and deoxygenated blood to the lungs.

Problems with heart valves, known as valvular heart disease, can arise from various causes including congenital defects, infections (like rheumatic fever), aging, and other medical conditions. These issues can lead to either stenosis, where a valve doesn't open fully, restricting blood flow, or regurgitation, where a valve doesn't close properly, causing blood to leak backward. In severe cases, heart valve problems may require medical intervention, such as medication or surgical repair or replacement of the affected valve.
