Szélcsatornákban, also known as wind tunnels, are facilities used to study the effects of air moving over or around solid objects. These tunnels are essential tools in aerodynamics, helping engineers and researchers understand how air flows around various shapes and structures. Wind tunnels can be categorized into two main types: open-return and closed-return. Open-return tunnels have a large fan at one end and an open exit at the other, allowing air to flow freely. Closed-return tunnels, on the other hand, have a recirculating system, where the air is drawn back into the tunnel after passing through the test section. Wind tunnels can be further classified based on their size, speed, and the type of testing they are designed for. Subsonic tunnels operate at speeds below the speed of sound, while supersonic tunnels exceed this threshold. Hypersonic tunnels are used to study the effects of air at extremely high velocities. Wind tunnels are used in various fields, including aviation, automotive, and sports equipment design, to improve performance, reduce drag, and enhance safety. They are also used in meteorology and environmental studies to understand air flow patterns and pollution dispersion.
