Szuszpenziókon

Szuszpenziókon is a Hungarian term referring to suspensions, which are heterogeneous mixtures of solid particles dispersed in a liquid. Unlike solutions, where the solute dissolves completely into the solvent, in a suspension, the solid particles remain undissolved and are visible to the naked eye or under a microscope. These particles will eventually settle out of the liquid over time if left undisturbed due to gravity.

The key characteristic of a szuszpenzió is the particle size. Typically, these particles are larger than those found in colloids, ranging from approximately 1 micrometer to 1 millimeter in diameter. This larger size is what causes them to separate. Examples of common szuszpenziókon in everyday life include muddy water, where soil particles are suspended in water, or certain medicines, like liquid antacids, which require shaking before use to redistribute the active ingredients.

The process of separating the solid particles from the liquid in a szuszpenzió is usually achieved through filtration. The filter medium allows the liquid to pass through while retaining the solid particles. This property makes suspensions useful in various applications, such as in the pharmaceutical industry for drug delivery or in industrial processes for separating materials. The stability of a szuszpenzió can be influenced by factors like particle size, density differences between the solid and liquid, and the presence of suspending agents that help to keep the particles dispersed.
