Szrmveletek, also known as "szürke munka" or "grey work," refers to a range of activities that are not officially recognized or rewarded, but are crucial for the functioning of organizations. These activities are often performed by employees who are not formally employed for them, and they are typically not documented or compensated. Szrmveletek can include tasks such as maintaining office equipment, organizing meetings, or providing informal support to colleagues. While these activities are essential for the smooth operation of an organization, they are often undervalued and undercompensated. The term "szürke munka" was coined by Hungarian sociologist István Mészáros to highlight the invisible and often unrecognized work that is necessary for the functioning of society.
