Színezékes

Színezékes is a small village situated in the central part of Hungary within Pest County. The settlement falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Szolnok District and lies approximately 60 kilometres east of the capital city, Budapest. Covering an area of roughly 12 square kilometres, Színezékes has a population of around 1,200 residents, according to the most recent census data from 2021. The demographic profile is largely homogeneous, with the majority of inhabitants being ethnic Hungarian and the community maintaining a highly active local cultural life.

Historically, the first written record of Színezékes dates back to the late 14th century, when it was mentioned in a property charter of the Hungarian Crown. Throughout the centuries, the village experienced various phases of development, including agricultural expansion during the 18th and 19th centuries and a modest industrial period in the early 20th century, when a small textile workshop was established. Following the end of World War II, the area saw a gradual shift towards collective farming under the socialist regime. The post‑communist transition in the early 1990s brought about significant changes, with many of the collective farms being privatized and the village's economy realigning with the national market.

The economy of Színezékes remains primarily agricultural, with crop farming—mainly wheat, corn, and sunflowers—forming the backbone of local livelihoods. Additionally, viticulture has seen a revival in recent years, reflecting broader trends in regional wine production. Small service sectors such as local retail, transportation, and education also contribute to the village’s economic fabric. Notable landmarks include a late‑Baroque church, built in 1785, and a community cultural centre that hosts traditional folk events and seasonal festivals celebrating the village’s heritage.
