Systeemiyhtälöt

Systeemiyhtälöt, or systems of equations, are a collection of two or more equations that share the same variables. The goal when solving a system of equations is to find the values of these variables that satisfy all equations simultaneously. These values represent the intersection point or points of the graphs of the equations, if they are linear.

There are several common methods for solving systems of equations. Substitution involves solving one equation for one variable and then substituting that expression into the other equation. Elimination, also known as the addition method, aims to eliminate one variable by adding or subtracting the equations, often after multiplying one or both equations by constants to make the coefficients of a variable opposites. Graphical methods involve plotting the equations and identifying their intersection point(s).

The number of solutions a system can have depends on the nature of the equations. A system can have a unique solution, no solution (if the lines are parallel and distinct), or infinitely many solutions (if the equations represent the same line).
