Systólískt refers to the phase of the cardiac cycle when the heart muscle contracts and pumps blood out into the arteries. This contraction is the primary action that propels blood throughout the circulatory system. During systole, the ventricles, the lower chambers of the heart, forcefully squeeze, ejecting their contents. The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta, the body's largest artery, to be distributed to the rest of the body. Simultaneously, the right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood into the pulmonary artery, leading to the lungs for oxygenation.
