Syncom
Syncom, short for synchronous communications, refers to a series of early American communications satellites developed in the 1960s. Built by Hughes Aircraft for NASA and the Communications Satellite Corporation (COMSAT), the program aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of geostationary, or synchronous, orbital operation for global telecommunications.
The Syncom program produced several flight units, with Syncom 2 and Syncom 3 being the most notable.
