Sybase

Sybase, Inc. was an American software company known for its relational database management systems and data-management products. Founded in 1984, it grew into a major vendor of SQL-based database software in the enterprise market. The company’s flagship product was Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), a commercial relational database management system designed for high-volume transaction processing and data warehousing. ASE supported Transact-SQL and parallel processing features, and it ran on multiple platforms including Unix and Windows.

In addition to ASE, Sybase offered Sybase IQ, a columnar analytics database optimized for large-scale data warehousing

In 2010, SAP AG acquired Sybase for about 5.8 billion dollars, integrating its database and mobility technologies
