Svoje

Svoje is a reflexive possessive determiner used in several South Slavic languages, notably Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, and Slovenian. It conveys the idea of "one's own" or belonging to the subject and functions as a possessive pronoun or adjective that accompanies a noun. The form "svoje" is commonly used with neuter singular nouns and with plural nouns; other gender-specific forms exist, such as "svoj" (masculine) and "svoja" (feminine).

In practice, "svoje" emphasizes ownership by the subject and is often used when the possessor is the subject of the sentence. It can appear with different cases depending on the grammatical role of the noun. Examples include: "Dopustite mi da koristim svoje stvari" (Let me use my own things); "Svoje mišljenje izneo je na sastanku" (He expressed his own opinion).

Historically, the word is derived from the Slavic reflexive pronoun svoj and has cognates across Slavic languages, such as Russian svoy, Polish swoj, and Czech své.
