The name derives from the fictional Svarbian language; "Svar" suggests brightness or significance, and the suffix "-bia" is a common place-name element in this setting.

Svarbia occupies the Svarbian Archipelago, a chain of rocky islets off a temperate mainland coast. The landscape features sheltered harbors, limestone cliffs, and intertidal zones that support a variety of marine life. The nation has about 120,000 residents and covers roughly 3,400 square kilometers.

It has a constitutional monarchy with a ceremonial monarch and a democratically elected parliament. The government is headed by a prime minister who leads a multi-party cabinet. An independent judiciary upholds the rule of law, while local authorities manage municipal services and planning.

Svarbia’s economy relies on fisheries, aquaculture, tourism, and light manufacturing, with a growing emphasis on renewable energy and sustainable coastal development. The culture blends maritime traditions with contemporary arts; Svarbian is the official language alongside minority dialects, and annual festivals celebrate seafaring folklore and local crafts.
