Svaja
Svaja is a term that originates from Sanskrit and is commonly used in various Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, and Sanskrit itself. It is often translated as "weakness" or "impotence" in English. The term is used to describe a state of physical or mental frailty, often associated with old age or illness. In Ayurvedic medicine, svaja is considered one of the six doshas, which are fundamental principles of life. It is believed to be caused by an imbalance in the body's energies, particularly an excess of kapha, one of the three doshas. Svaja can manifest in various ways, including fatigue, loss of strength, and a general feeling of weakness. It is often treated through Ayurvedic remedies, which aim to restore balance to the body's energies. The concept of svaja is also found in other traditional Indian systems of medicine, such as Unani and Siddha, where it is treated with similar principles. In modern times, svaja is often used in a more metaphorical sense to describe a state of mental or emotional weakness.
